Since its introduction in 1983, the iconic Elephant® BETA deicer has set the industry standard for efficient and safe aircraft deicing. Over the years, the unit has continuously evolved with new upgrades and innovations, while maintaining its original principles: a boom-and-telescope system that enables precise nozzle reach across all aircraft surfaces, and an operator’s cabin positioned high above the ground for maximum visibility and control.
In 2019, Vestergaard Company introduced the hybrid electric Elephant® BETA, which quickly gained strong market acceptance. The hybrid model can operate fully electric, with the option to engage the truck engine to power a generator when additional flexibility is required.
At the upcoming GSE Expo International in Las Vegas, 16–18 September 2025, Vestergaard Company will unveil the next step in environmentally friendly deicing technology: the fully electric Elephant® e-BETA.
Built on a Vestergaard electrical chassis and equipped with a 145 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Elephant® e-BETA is designed to operate a full shift on a single charge. All functions are fully electric, ensuring zero local emissions during operation. For airports without pre-heated fluid infrastructure, the e-BETA includes a 600 kW diesel heater—the same proven Vestergaard heater that can deliver hot deicing fluid just 10–15 minutes after filling.
“The launch of the fully electric Elephant® e-BETA underlines our commitment to providing environmentally friendly, future-ready solutions for the ground support industry,” said Stefan Vestergaard, CEO of Vestergaard Company. “We are proud to offer an aircraft deicer that combines operational reliability with significant reductions in environmental footprint.”
Industry professionals attending GSE Expo International are invited to experience the new Elephant® e-BETA at outdoor stand P330.

Vestergaard Company A/S today announces the strongest financial performance in its history. For the fiscal year 2024/25, the company achieved revenue of just over DKK 1.3 billion — representing a remarkable 53% increase compared to the previous year. The company delivered an operating profit margin of 17%, with a net profit of DKK 163 million after tax.
Including its subsidiary Kalmar Motor AB, part of the Vestergaard Company Group, the total consolidated revenue now exceeds DKK 1.5 billion.
“We are very proud to present these record-breaking results. They are the culmination of years of strategic focus, global expansion, and continuous strengthening of our product portfolio. This performance is also a testament to the dedication and quality delivered every day by our more than 500 employees,” says Stefan Vestergaard, CEO of Vestergaard Company.
Cautious Optimism Amid Global Uncertainty
Despite the strong momentum, Vestergaard Company takes a conservative approach to the coming fiscal year. Citing a range of geopolitical and economic uncertainties — including challenges in global supply chains and geopolitical tensions — the leadership team has set a growth target of 5% for the fiscal year 2025/26.
“We have a strong foundation and a robust pipeline, but we also recognize the disruptions affecting the global economy. As such, we have chosen a balanced and realistic outlook for the year ahead,” says Stefan Vestergaard.

Vestergaard Company, a global leader in ground support equipment, is announcing significant organizational changes as part of its ongoing commitment to excellence and growth. After more than 20 years of dedicated service, Brock Crocker, Managing Director of Vestergaard Company North America, has decided to retire. Crocker has been a key figure in driving the company’s tremendous growth in both the United States and Canada during his tenure.
Taking the helm as the new Managing Director of Vestergaard Company North America is Damien Le Gac, a seasoned leader from within the organization. Damien, who most recently served as Country Manager for Vestergaard in France, brings over 17 years of industry experience, including leadership roles at JBT and Sage Parts. Damien, along with his wife and two young children, is currently relocating to the Chicago area as he prepares to take on his new role.
“I am excited to step into this new chapter at Vestergaard Company North America,” said Le Gac. “The significant growth we’ve seen in recent years in North America is something I aim to build on. Safety and efficiency are the highest priorities of all deicing operations. OPTIM-ICE delivers on both of these priorities. Vestergaard Company is proud to release the first version of our operator-assisted deicing system. This release is the first version and is meant for narrowbody aircraft wings and stabilizers. In the coming years, the software will be upgraded with increasingly more automation and all aircraft types.
Using LIDAR radars OPTIM-ICE initiates a job by scanning the aircraft in one quick pass. The software immediately recognizes the aircraft surface and selects the appropriate deicing patterns. The software then takes over and assists the operator by moving the nozzle in pre-selected patterns across the wing and stabilizer.
The radars ensure that the nozzle or telescope cannot touch the aircraft surfaces. A software will slow down the approach and stop it completely at designated distance (typically 1 meter).
The operator is still in control, and it is his or her judgment whether the surfaces are clean, but OPTIM-ICE performs the operation semi-automatically. Training can be reduced as the software assists the operator.
OPTIM-ICE can be ordered on new Elephant BETA deicers and be retrofitted to newer models.

Together, we hope to be able to spark interest in vocational education, which is important to our future,” says Tina Mandrup, Mayor of Lejre Municipality.
“In a time where many are trying to win the students’ favor, we hope that by showing what a vocational education can be used for, we can get more people to choose this path.
