MENZIES’ INVESTMENT IN A GLYCOL RECOVERY VEHICLE FURTHERS SUSTAINABILITY AND EFFICIENCY

July 11, 2024

Endeavoring to improve sustainability and operational efficiency, Menzies in Arlanda has recently chosen to invest in Vestergaard Company’s Glycol Recovery Vehicle (GRV). This initiative was driven by several central factors, the primary factor being the need to replace one of Menzies’ older units. After a month of test running, it became clear that Vestergaard’s GRV was a very good alternative to the traditional units. The employees driving the vehicle found it very user-friendly, with only four buttons, and only three were necessary for daily use. The vehicle’s flexibility, small slewing radius and large tank capacity for recovering glycol were also highlighted as considerable advantages.

Using Vestergaard’s GRV helps Menzies reach its sustainability goal with an economically advantageous vehicle that is expected to have a longer lifespan compared to traditional units. The prolonged lifespan supports Menzies’ goal of reducing resource consumption and expenses over time, which is crucial to the company’s long-term sustainability strategy.

One of the significant improvements of implementing the GRV is the increased efficiency and cost efficiency in glycol recovery. The GRV’s large tank capacity means that the vehicle can operate for longer periods without being emptied, which increases productivity. Additionally, Menzies has experienced a significant reduction in both fuel consumption and service costs, which makes the operation more economically advantageous.

Environmentally, the GRV has also turned out to have considerable advantages. The vehicle is equipped with only one engine as opposed to traditional GRVs, which typically have two. This innovation results in a 50 % reduction in fuel consumption and lower service costs which substantially contributes to Menzies’ environmental goal of reducing CO2 emissions and other harmful emissions and supports their commitment to lowering their environmental footprint.

With a 50 % reduction in fuel consumption and significantly reduced service costs, it is likewise possible for Menzies to offer their services to customers at lower prices without having to compromise on quality, which gives them an economic advantage regarding tender processes.
By implementing Vestergaard Company’s GRV, Menzies has not only improved their operational efficiency but has also strengthened their position as an environmentally conscious company dedicated to sustainable solutions. This initiative is proof of Menzies’ commitment to creating a more sustainable future for the aviation industry.
